From January to April 2010, the export of Taiwanese machine tool increased by 29.5%; The import increased by 52.7%, the demand for production equipment in Hi-Tech Industries increases considerably.
1. Analysis on Taiwanese Machine Tools Export
According to Customs statistics from January to April 2010, the export volume of Taiwanese machine tools has reached 759 Million U.S. Dollars, which indicates a growth of 29.5% over the last year and the export market is improving. The export amount of Cutting Machine Tools is 587 Million U.S. Dollars, which is 32% growth compares to the same period in 2009. The Forming Machine Tools is 172 Million U.S. Dollars, growth rate is 21.8%.
(1) Machine Tool Export Analysis by Product Categories
For Cutting Machine Tools: Machining Center’s growth rate is 49.9%; Lathe is -2.8% (minus 2.8%); Grinding Machinery grows 73%; Milling/Boring machines grow 40%.
For Forming Machine Tools: Forging, Press, Punch and Shearing Machines grow 17.3%, the rest to machine tools categories grow 39.8%. For further statistics details, please refer to the attached Table 1.
(2) Machine Tool Export Analysis by Countries
From January to April 2010, China together with Hong Kong is the number one Taiwanese machine tools consuming country, the export volume from Taiwan is 346 Million U.S. Dollars, which is 45.6% of all export market share, and giving an 89.8% growth.
USA comes after in the second position, the amount is 34 Million U.S. Dollars, such a figure occupies 4.5% of all export market, but the business dropped 40.4% compares to the performance in the same period last year.
Thailand is number 3, consuming 33.5 Million U.S. Dollars on Taiwanese Machine Tools, 4.4% of all export market share, and 35.9% growth. For further statistic details, please refer to the attached Table 2.
2. Analysis on Taiwanese Machine Tool Import
Custom statistics shows the business volume increases by 52.7%, up to 166 Million U.S. Dollars. Among which, Cutting Machine Tools amounted 140 Million U.S. Dollars with 62.1% growth; while Forming Machine Tools is 26 Million U.S. Dollars, 16% growth.
(1) Machine Tool imported to Taiwan by Categories
The major imported Machine Tools to Taiwan during January to April 2010, is Non-Conventional Machine Tools. The growth rate is 112%, among which the Machining Center is 2.1%, Lathe 134%, Boring/Milling Machines 97%, Grinding Machinery is negative 33.5%.
As for the imports of Forming Machine Tools, Forging, Press, Punch and shearing Machines increase 33.5%, the rest of other Forming Machine Tools has negative growth of 64%. For further statistics details, please refer to attached Table3.
(2) Machine Tool imported to Taiwan by Countries
To rank the countries from which Taiwan imported machine tools, from January to April 2010, Japan occupied the top position with an amount of 102 Million U.S. Dollars, such a business scale is 61.5% of all imported Machine Tools, and it is 140% growth compares to the performance in the same period last year. Germany ranked number 2, the volume is 14 Million U.S. Dollars, 8.7% of all imported machine’s market size, but it is minus 32.3% growth compares to the country’s performance in 2009. USA is the third largest machine supplying country to Taiwan. The business amount is 10 Million U.S. Dollars, sharing 6% of the total amount, and 48.8% growth.
