Current Status of Taiwanese Machinery Industry in April 2010

From January to April 2010, the export of Taiwanese machinery increased by 40.3% comparing to the same period in previous year; while the import of Taiwanese machinery increased by 103%. Above figures indicate the investments are getting active.


1. Taiwanese Machinery Export Status by product categories

  According to Customs statistics from January to April 2010, the export volume of Taiwanese Machinery has reached 4.85 Billion U.S. Dollars, which indicates a growth of 40.3% over the last year and exports market turns better. Since November 2008, exports have continuously dropped for consecutive 13 months. In a single month December 2009, exports volume was 1.18 billion U.S. Dollars, which was the first up-turn point after 13 months’ recession, the growth was 8.2% compared to December 2008.

  Here is the ranking of major machinery’s expert performance by sales volume. Machine Tool Product’s export volume is 759 Million U.S. Dollars, it is 29.5% growth compares to the same period in last year. Plastic and Rubber Machinery come is the second highest, the export volume is 322 Million U.S. Dollars, it is 51.4% growth compares to the same period in last year. Special Purpose Machinery is in 3rd place, the export volume is 317 Million U.S. Dollars, the growth rate is 66%. For further statistics details, please refer to the attached Table 1.

2. Taiwanese Machinery Export Status By Countries

  By export countries’ category, as usual, China still ranked No. 1 with 1.54 Billion’s performance; it occupies 31.7% of total export volume, and 95.8% growth compares to the same period in last year, nearly doubled. USA comes as second largest Taiwanese Machinery consuming country, the export volume to USA is 790 Million U.S. Dollars; 16.3% of total export volume, 17.5% growth compares to the same period in 2009. Japan ranked number 3, the export volume to Japan is 266 Million U.S. Dollars, 5.5% of total export market share, but with negative 6.3% down turn. 3. Machinery imported to Taiwan by Categories

  According to Taiwanese Customs Statistics, from January to April 2010, the importation volume of all kinds Machinery to Taiwan is 7.82 Billion U.S. Dollars, which is 103% growth compares to the same period in 2009.

  The raking of imported machinery is analyzed as below:

  Number 1 is the Production Process Equipment for Semi-Conductors, IC and LCD Industries, the purchasing amount is 3.91 Billion U.S. Dollars, which is 50% of all imported machines’ value, and it grows 310% compares to the same period in last year. Number 2 is Special Purpose Machinery, 612 Million U.S. Dollars, 7.8% of all imported machines’ value, 34% growth. The Fluid Machinery is Number 3, the value is 371 Million US Dollars, 4.7% of imported machinery’s market share, and 67.8% growth compares to the same period in 2009. 4. Machinery imported to Taiwan by Countries

  Analysis indicates the Japan, USA, China and Germany are the 4 major machinery supplying countries for Taiwan. From January to April 2010, Japan ranked number 1, with import volume of 3.14 Billion U.S. Dollars, 40.2% of all imported machinery’s market share, and enjoyed 64.1% growth compares to the performance same period in 2009. USA comes after as second position, the transaction amount is 1.81 Billion U.S. Dollars, 23.2% of all imported machinery’s market share, 255% growth compares to the same period in last year. China is number 3, the import volume is 628 Million U.S. Dollars, 8% of all imported machinery’s market share, 62.2% growth. For further statistics details, please refer to attached Table 4.
